Applicant data is still housed in the ATS systems yes.

Frank S Asked: I noticed that there is no link for careers on the bestbuys.com site. Is there a reason?
We actually have a link. It's buried on the bottom of the site. Like a lot of companies, that real estate is sacred and not always easy to get.

Frank S Asked: Who created the new web pages? Was it internal or external?
My team created the content and overall site layout, our internal Advertising group did the images and developed the brand standards. We then worked with J2W and a designer to create the pages and the functionality.

Laura Asked: Can u say more on what mobile recruiting is please?

Hey Laura,

Mobile recruiting, in the context we meant it was enabling SMS or text messaging as a channel for communicating about job content, allowing people to subscribe to job content basically. Potentially you could do even more with it using geo-targeting techniques. As in, the store you just drove by has the job you said you were looking for. Etc. This is a new area, undeveloped as yet for us, just something we're thinking about. Concerns are cost obviously, and also making sure its an opt-in kind of thing so it doesn't become a burdensome approach to the candidate.

Susan S Asked: Are job browsers turning into more qualified candidates for you all?
Hi Susan
I think we covered this a bit in the presentation. The short answer is- we don't know yet. This is pretty difficult right now. Our hypothesis is that this would be true. We are looking at this and hope to be able to answer this very soon. We are able to see the total visitor traffic and those that sign up to be part of the talent community. Haven't been able to tie the quality metric to this yet.

Anne N Asked: Do you track "hires per source" as well as "volume of candidates by source"

Hi Anne,

hires per source is tracked in the ATS system right now. This data is imperfect since the candidate, once in the ATS has to self select. We are working with jobs2web and our ATS vendors to sync up the two platforms so the data has more integrity and is synchronized between the two systems and ultimately is reflected in our dashboard.

Visitors per source I can see at any time, for any time period for any source or category. The recruiting dashboard is extremely flexible and functional this way.

Debbie B Asked: how long did implementation take?
Hi Debbie
From concept, to design to go live was about 75 days. It went pretty quickly. We did launch initially with somewhat less content and have since added.

Leanne F Asked: Are there any advantages to a candidate in terms of sharing job leads via a social networking site (e.g - Facebook)? Seems there would be more downside.

Doug B: Leanne, many people are helping their friends to do job searches online, especially if they are not web savvy. By providing social networking tools - we're helping the helpers to broadcast jobs into their networks much more easily, which drives viral job marketing - which is desired, especially for internal employees trying to help draw their friends into the company.

kristina h Asked: what are your thoughts on indeed vs. simplyhired? do you think one is better than the other?

I don't have a strong opinion one way or the other to be honest. If you haven't already, check Joel Cheesman's blog for opinion on that. I can tell you that we've used SimplyHired more. Thats not necessarily an endorsement of them, just that for whatever reason, we've had more activity with them.

Keep in mind there are lots of job aggregators these days. Oodle, jobdig, linkUP, etc. If you haven't already use some of the free site analytics tools that are out there. Check this out...

mary t Asked: Does Jobs 2 Web sit on top of your ATS system?

Doug B: We don't technically "sit on top of" any ATS, but we do take the job content out of the ATS system and optimize the content for branding and keyword purposes, and then provide the companies with a better keyword search engine that they integrate into their career site versus the limited (or in BBY's case multiple) keyword search tools. Then, when any candidate clicks to apply to any job, we send the candidate into the ATS system to apply for that exact job.

Steve R Asked: Is the back end reporting coming from their ATS or from their website?

Steve, the screenshots you saw of the reporting was from the Jobs2web dashboard. Those site analytics refer to our careers site, and for now, are not synchronized with ATS applicant status, hire data etc. That's phase 2 if you will. We also get reports from the ATS. Data integrity is highly suspect however because of the ability for candidates to enter their source.

Laura Asked: Can u say more on what mobile recruiting is please?

Doug B: We help to empower corporate SMS applicant capture services also. We can provide companies with a "keyword" code that they can promote in their advertising (or in store locations) that allows candidates to show interest by texting that keyword into the company, and then we capture the persons email address, and bring them into the online apply process once they are online - NOT via the mobile phone, because that would be a nightmare. This is a powerful way to capture initial interest when they are out-and-about, and then bring them online the next time they are on email, so that we can get them into the ATS system when they are online.
